I have been trying to D/L a couple of shows for the past three days from etree08, with dismal results. Connecting from two locations, each with a T-1, and from home (on Cable) I can never achieve throughput of more than 300-400 bytes/second. Things typically scream coming of of 01 & 02, are generally much slower off of 03, but 04 is almost unbearable. Anyone else see this, or is there new server tuning/balancing going on? Or do I just need to take a chill pill?!

Thanks,
Tom

etree08 is the busiest of the new servers, but I would expect you to get higher speeds than 3-4k/s.

With that said there are currently 400 Apache threads running and 36 FTP downloaders. My guess is that you're experiencing a combination of several factors:

1. etree08 has some NYE shows making it a hot machine.
2. People are behaving greedily, using download managers to estabish multiple connections to the machine and vastly degrading everyone's bandwidth experience.
3. The Archive's bandwidth is badly hammered due to the LMA. But this doesn't explain why you get good speeds from etree01-02.

I'm having the same problem. Speeds are so slow that I've had the connection disrupted. I hate to say it ,but like everything else, this will come to an end soon.

Good! That's why that server is there. If a show exists on the I2 server, please get it from there. That's why the mirror is there: to help alleviate the bandwidth burden from the Archive.
